That sonogram is of our youngest, Michael. He had the hiccups and was moving around - all the fun things babies do! However, at 19 weeks along, it still would have been legal to end his life in 29 states.
Amendment 3 would add Missouri to that list.
Amendment 3 would allow abortions up to viability, generally considered 24 weeks, for any reason, and up to birth with a doctor's note that the mother's mental health was at risk. It also removes every health and safety protection for mothers at abortion centers. It even ends the ability to sue abortion providers for malpractice or seek civil or criminal penalties - even if the mother dies during a procedure.
Shockingly, it also eliminates parental notification laws for minors seeking an abortion. Your child cannot take a Tylenol at school without you being notified, but they can get an abortion? Your daughter could go in with her 30-year-old abuser and receive an abortion and you would never know.
The bedrock of our nation is the Right to Life. How can we dehumanize society even further by not recognizing that sonogram above as life that must be protected?
Amendment 3 does not reflect Missouri values. For all these reasons, I urge you to protect mothers and unborn lives and VOTE NO on Amendment 3.
